It was December 27,
1999 when a small group of 27 Canadians descended upon the small
town of Skellefteå, Sweden for our very first World Junior
Hockey Championship. The group, made up mostly of Team Canada
parents and a few fans, represented Canada with residents from
Victoria, BC to Bonavista, NF and all points in between. I
remember enjoying the fireworks display as we rang in the new
Millennium together in that little Swedish town just south of the Arctic
Circle. It was also the first year we met Gord Miller, Bob
McKenzie and the gang from TSN which was a big thrill for all. Oh yes, Team Canada won the bronze that year beating the USA
in an exciting shootout - we will never forget it.Since that year, Destiny Tours has
escorted groups to the
World Juniors in Moscow (2001), Czech Republic (2002), Halifax
(2003), Helsinki (2004) and Grand Forks (2005). Our European
groups have continued to grow in size year after year and in
December of 2006 we will come full circle as we return to Sweden
for the first time since it all began for us 7 years ago.
We invite
you to join us for this very special "Homecoming"
Tour to the 2007 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in
Leksand & Mora, Sweden.
